EXTRIP

Clinical Toxicology is the official journal of EAPCCT, and is co-sponsored by EAPCCT and our sister organisations AACT , APAMT and APC.

The Clinical Toxicology Recommendations Collaborative is lead jointly by EAPCCT, AACT and APAMT, with participation from APC, ACMT and CAPCC. Its mandate is to develop evidence-based clinical recommendations (guidelines) for the management of patients exposed to common and/or serious poisonings for which the management is unclear. The first three projects of the Collaborative are: i) Activated Charcoal for gastrointestinal decontamination, ii) Assessment and management of QT prolongation in poisoning; iii) Assessment and Management of paracetamol poisoning. The EXtracoporeal Treatments In Poisoning Workgroup is a multi-disciplinary group of experts in poisonings and/or extracorporeal treatments. A number of EAPCCT members are active contributors to the EXTRIP workgroup. EXTRIP performs systematic reviews on the evidence for the use of extracorporeal treatments in the management of the poisoned patient, and provides clinical recommendations on the use of extracorporeal treatments in various poisonings. EAPCCT is listed in the EU Transparency Register as a recognised stakeholder with relevant EU bodies in relation to clinical toxicology and poison centre issues. (Registration number: 772116923142-95)
EAPCCT members have contributed to a number of EU strategic projects including Alerting System for Chemical Health Threats (ASHT) and European Chemical Emergency Network (ECHEMNET) Projects. Data from research conducted by EAPCCT members and presented at EAPCCT congresses has been instrumental in informing regulatory changes relating to chemical safety legislation in Europe.
EAPCCT members have been a contributory stakeholder with regards to EU legislation relevant to poison centre activities including the CLP Regulation (Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008). EAPCCT members have conducted research to investigate the impact of EU legislation on the harm related to chemicals, including Regulation (EU) No 1297/2014.

EAPCCT collaborates closely with WHO on issues relating to clinical toxicology, the establishment of poisons centres and poison centre research. EAPCCT members actively contributed to the WHO INTOX and IPCS programmes and have been instrumental in the production of many important WHO documents in the field, in recent years these include:
